Environmentaljustice in the world’s most remote areas
Environmental justice
In the world’s most remote areas
Last Mile Justice seeks to acknowledge, address, and eliminate inequities faced by indigenous and local communities around the world stemming from environmental injustice. Women and men in marginalized communities have the capacity to be powerful stewards of the world’s natural resources. Instead, they are disproportionately exposed to environmental contamination, environmental destruction, and impacts from climate change. The cumulative effect of environmental injustice on marginalized communities – especially on women and children - jeopardizes their health, livelihoods, lands, and cultures.
Our Vision
We seek a world where indigenous peoples and local community members – especially women– are able to safely and meaningfully engage in, and derive benefit from, decision-making regarding the sustainable use of their lands.
Our Mission
Ensure access to environmental justice for indigenous and local community members – especially women - in the world’s most remote places in order to protect their lands, livelihoods, and cultures.
