Allies FOR indigenous and last mile communties
Conservation successes can only be achieved through long, thoughtful, inclusive processes that necessarily engage an array of people with various skills, expertise, and knowledge. Most of those people live in last mile communities. The phrase “it takes a village” is wonderfully apropos. At LMJ we recognize that no single person (read CEO/ED) can unilaterally drive conservation success. Nor can a small group of people (read Board of Directors/Advisory Board), no matter how wonderfully diverse, deliver impactful results without the engagement of local partners.
Decades of experience have taught the practitioners at LMJ that what we do is much less important than how we do it. And who we are is much less important than who we serve.
Nevertheless, to foster confidence in your ability to contribute your time, resources, and knowledge to us, we are pleased to provide details about the founding team at LMJ. We share this information with utmost humility, acknowledging that, despite our extensive experience and the intention to add value to our community partners, we frequently find ourselves learning more than we impart. In this context, a vital aspect of our role involves aiding the global community in comprehending the formidable challenges our partners encounter, as well as the significant opportunities that exist for all of us to collectively initiate positive change.
